MTV News' James Montgomery picks Embryonic as #2 album of 2009

The Flaming Lips - Embryonic was recently named the #2 album of 2009 by James Montgomery of MTV News!

"The album on which the Lips take all the good will they've built up over the past decade and jettison it out into space, Embryonic is a dissonant, disturbing thing, all fuzzed-out guitars, churning low end and muttered, barely there vocals, with the occasional animal noise (courtesy of Karen O)..."

The Flaming Lips T-Shirt Designs

Greetings,

The Flaming Lips twelfth studio album Embryonic was recently released to mass critical acclaim.

Outside of the studio and touring, the bands have also been busy designing T-shirts. There are two quintessentially Flaming Lips designs, hand drawn and complete with silver blocking.

Currently they are only available to UKU in the UK.

As well as t-shirts, there is also a Flaming Lips limited edition deluxe box set featuring 2 CD’s, Bonus audio, a custom ‘furry’ box and an exclusive lithograph featuring the Embryonic cover artwork!

Available now exclusively through UKU.

"Watching The Planets" Dance Party!

First we want to say THANK YOU to everyone in Portland! Especially those who participated in the making of the 'Watching The Planets' video!

We wish we could have given everyone screen time but remember you may or may not be in the final cut of the video, but you still were there to help make it happen!!!!

Come watch the video and stay for the dance party!!! Music will be provided by the guys from Zwei Dekaden zu Spät on PRA (Portland Radio Authority).

EMBRYONIC is #8 in Billboard this week!

For the first time in the band's 26 year career, the Flaming Lips have scored their (our) first top 10 album. "Embryonic" debuts in the Billboard Top 200 this week at #8 and we couldn't be more thrilled. Wow!

I would just like to extend a most sincere thanks on behalf of everyone in the band....not just to the people who bought the record this week (though an extra special thanks does go to you), but to every Flaming Lips appreciator on the planet Earth. It's been an incredible 26 years, of which I am proud and honored to have been a part for the past 7, and we quite simply couldn't do what we do without you. I'm sorry if this sounds cheesy, but I am sort of in a state of shock right now and it really is the truth.

Again, from the bottom of all of our hearts, thank you! We hope to see you somewhere out there on tour over the next couple of years or at the March Of 1000 Flaming Skeletons in Oklahoma City this Saturday.....or anywhere, really. Wherever you are, you're always in our hearts.
