I was wondering about the new black and white background art on the website and many of the new music items like the new vinyl and (in color) the new strobotrip box. It looks like a capture of a sound meter of some kind, and i was wondering if it was some type of visual representation of sounds. If it is, are the different uses different songs? sounds?

Nope. Just a design that we can do different variations of easily that we think looks cool.
